Description

Mould making is the secret behind prop shops, jewellers, and industrial product designers: it’s how a single original becomes a run of perfect copies. And it's easier to learn than it looks. In five weeks, you’ll go from never having mixed urethane to holding replicas you made yourself, and knowing how to do it again on your own. WHAT CAN YOU MAKE WITH IT? If you can mould it, you can make as many copies as you want. People use these skills to: • Prototype a product idea: turn a 3D print or sculpted model into realistic plastic parts • Make props, armour details, and accessories for cosplay, film and theatre • Produce small runs of miniatures, jewellery, figurines, game pieces, or merch • Replace hard-to-find parts and missing pieces YOUR INSTRUCTOR Your instructor is Garry Campbell, who has been doing this professionally for more than 35 years. In 1989 he started Prototech, the first 3D printing service bureau in Canada. In 1993 he founded Nova Product Development Services, a one-stop shop for 3D printing and casting that helped companies develop new products in the medical, consumer, toy, and industrial fields. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Preparing a master model for moulding Assembling a mould box for support Mixing and pouring two-part urethane rubber mould Choosing, mixing, and pouring liquid plastics Finishing and colouring your casts Handling materials safely How to properly and safely use the vacuum chamber and pressure pot WHAT YOU'LL WALK AWAY WITH Your urethane mould and your polyurethane casting(s) Sign-off to use our pressure pot and vacuum chamber independently at future visits to Ghost Rocket Makerspace. One free Day Pass that you can split across 2 visits (mould one day, cast the next) to make something of your own. (Use within 60 days)
